About the Role:
WSP is seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Officer for a 6-month assignment on a major underground utilities and road infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. This is a great opportunity for an HSE professional with over 6 years of experience—including at least 3 years in the UAE—to contribute to the successful and safe execution of a high-profile project.
Key Responsibilities:
🛡 Health, Safety & Environmental Oversight
- Conduct daily site inspections and enforce HSE compliance
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and documentation
- Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety briefings
- Support safety inductions and ongoing HSE training for site personnel
- Enforce use of PPE and issue work permits for high-risk activities
- Monitor implementation of emergency response and fire safety plans
🌍 Environmental Compliance
- Oversee environmental protocols related to waste, emissions, and noise
- Ensure alignment with local laws and WSP’s sustainability policies
📊 Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain accurate HSE records and submit daily/weekly reports
- Coordinate with project teams and local authorities on audits and inspections
Candidate Profile:
🎓 Education:
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- NEBOSH or equivalent certification preferred
🧠 Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum 6 years in HSE roles, with 3+ years in the UAE
- Strong knowledge of UAE construction safety laws, risk mitigation, and environmental standards
- Experience with roads, utilities, or underground infrastructure projects preferred
🗣 Skills:
- Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus)
- Strong communication, incident reporting, and safety leadership skills
- Attention to detail with solid organizational and problem-solving abilities
